You're standing at the Tree of Life, the Monument of Awareness, on Surinameplein in Amsterdam-West. It also has a Surinamese name: Bon Fu Gron Prakseri. The monument remembers the history of slavery and its abolition. And it stands for the bond between the countries that were part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Henry Renfurm designed it, and it was unveiled on the 30th of June 2003.
