You're standing at the Maritime Museum, Het Scheepvaartmuseum, on the Kattenburgerplein. Look at that big, square building sitting so grandly by the water. It's the former 's Lands Zeemagazijn, the national naval storehouse, designed by Daniël Stalpaert and built in 1656. It was the warehouse of the Amsterdam Admiralty. Cannons, sails, flags and equipment for the war fleet were kept here.
