You're standing on the Honthorststraat, at the edge of Museumplein. The stately townhouse in front of you is Villa Alsberg. It was designed in 1904 by Eduard Cuypers, nephew of Pierre Cuypers, the architect of the Rijksmuseum right across the square. Its first owner was the banker Siegmund Alsberg. It was one of the first private homes on Museumplein, and it stayed a private residence until 1939.
