You're standing at the Westerkerk, the Western Church, on the Prinsengracht canal at the edge of the Jordaan. First, look up. At around eighty-seven metres, the Westertoren is the tallest church tower in Amsterdam. Right at the top you'll spot a crown: the imperial crown of Emperor Maximilian the First. Since 2006 it has been painted blue again, its original colour.
