You're standing on Dam Square, at Madame Tussauds Amsterdam. Look up at the large building. The museum occupies the upper floors of the Peek & Cloppenburg clothing store. Architect A.J. Joling designed it, and it was built between 1914 and 1917. In April 1917 it opened as the second Peek & Cloppenburg store in the Netherlands. Today the building is a national monument.
