You're standing by the Eye Filmmuseum, on the north bank of the IJ, right across the water from Central Station. Look at the building's shape. From a certain angle, it looks like an eye. That's where the name comes from. Eye is a play on words: the eye you watch a film with, and also how English speakers pronounce the IJ.
