You're standing on the Herengracht, in front of number 605. This is the Willet-Holthuysen house, a grand canal house you can actually walk into. Start with the façade. It's in the Louis XIV style, the height of fashion at the time, and dates from around 1739. The house itself is older. It was built between 1685 and 1687 for Jacob Hop, one of the city's most senior officials.
