You're standing in front of Teylers Museum in Haarlem, right on the river Spaarne. Take a look at that richly decorated façade. It's the entrance designed by the Viennese architect Christian Ulrich to mark the foundation's hundredth anniversary, and it opened in 1885. But the real heart of the museum lies further back, and it's a whole century older.
