You're standing on the Grote Markt in Haarlem, at the Hoofdwacht, number 17. Right across from you rises the great St. Bavo's Church. Next to that, this building is easy to miss, but it's probably the oldest stone building in town. The wall on the Smedestraat side is the oldest known brickwork in Haarlem, dating from the thirteenth century.
