You're standing at the Czar Peter House in Zaandam. What you see from the outside is really the wrapping. Look at that stone shell. Amsterdam architects Gerlof and Abraham Salm, father and son, designed it in 1895 for the last Russian tsar, Nicholas the Second. They took Russian Orthodox churches as their inspiration. Can you spot the stone imperial crowns on the façade and beside the gates? In the garden there's also a bust of Anna Pavlovna.
