You're standing at the Bröhan Museum in Berlin's Charlottenburg district. Take a look at the building in front of you. It's part of the ensemble around Charlottenburg Palace, and it wasn't built for art at all. This was a barracks, put up for the palace's guard regiment. Where soldiers once slept, there are now chairs, vases and paintings.
