You're standing at the Berlinische Galerie, Berlin's own museum of modern art, photography and architecture. Did you have to look for it? That's normal, because the museum doesn't sit right on Alte Jakobstraße. You reach it across a forecourt, and that forecourt is part of the art. The artist Fritz Balthaus worked out how the street, the grounds and the entrance flow into each other. The studio Kühn Malvezzi designed the square with its Buchstabenfeld, a field full of letters.
