You're standing at Fort aan de Klop, on the river Vecht in the Overvecht district of Utrecht. It looks peaceful now, but this spot has been a defensive post for centuries. As early as 1629 there was an earthen fortification here against the Spanish, and in 1787 a redoubt to keep the French army off the Vecht dike.
