You're standing on the Amelisweerd estate, on the Kromme Rijn river between Utrecht and Bunnik. Look around at the old trees, the water and the avenues. Much of what you see goes back to the eighteenth century. Baron Taets van Amerongen built a bridge over the river and turned the estate into a park with large gardens. In 1770 he built the manor house Oud-Amelisweerd as a summer home.
