You're standing at Zuylen Castle, in the village of Oud-Zuilen just north of Utrecht, where the Vecht region begins. Look at its shape. The house is built as a U, with a forecourt in the middle. That forecourt used to be an inner courtyard, closed off by a wall and a moat. During the last big rebuild, in 1751 and 1752, the wall came down and the moat was filled in.
