You're standing at the Rietveld Schröder House on Prins Hendriklaan in Utrecht. Take a good look, because a century on, it still looks like nothing else on the street. It's attached to a row of ordinary houses, yet it completely ignores them. The façade is a play of separate planes and lines that seem to glide past each other. White and shades of grey, black window frames, and here and there a beam in red, yellow or blue. That arrangement also created several little balconies.
