Story · Shadow quay

You're standing on the Nieuwe Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam, at the Shadow Quay. Look at the stone edge along the water, on the odd-numbered side of the canal. Set into it are small metal plaques, two hundred in all. Each one carries the name of a Jewish resident of this canal who was murdered in the Second World War.
