Zaans Museum in Zaanstad

You're standing at the Zaans Museum, on the Zaanse Schans in Zaandam. The modern building was designed by architect Cor van Hillo and dates from the late nineties. Notice how open it is, and how it connects to the historic houses of the Schans. That's exactly what the jury of the European Museum of the Year Award praised when it gave the museum a special mention in 2001.
