Fort bij Abcoude in De Ronde Venen

You're standing at the Fort near Abcoude, between the little river Angstel and the railway from Amsterdam to Utrecht. Look at that green mound with the moat around it. It isn't just a hill. There's a fort under that earth, and it was the very first one built for the Defence Line of Amsterdam, the ring of forts around the capital.
