You're standing at De Vriendschap, which means Friendship, a windmill on the Utrechtseweg along the river Vecht in Weesp. First, look up. This is an eight-sided corn mill with a stage, a balcony halfway up from which the miller works the sails. The lower part is made of pine, the upper part is thatched with reed. The sails measure almost twenty-five metres from tip to tip and have flaps that act as brakes. The steel sail stocks date from 1976.
