You're standing at Westminster Abbey, formally the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter. Start with the two west towers. They look medieval, but they were only built in the 1740s, by Nicholas Hawksmoor, who blended the abbey's Gothic with the Baroque style of his own day. Now look above the Great West Door. Those are ten statues of twentieth-century Christian martyrs, including Martin Luther King and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, carved by the abbey's own craftsmen in 1998.
