You're standing on Cannon Street, right in the heart of the City of London. Look at the wall of number 111, on the north side of the street. Behind glass, framed in pale Portland stone, sits a rather plain block of limestone. That's London Stone. It's only about half a metre wide, but it's centuries old, and nobody really knows what it was for.
