You're standing on Park Street in Bankside, on the south side of the Thames. Look for the blue plaque at number 56. It marks a spot you could easily walk past. This is where the Rose stood, the very first playhouse in Bankside. Businessman Philip Henslowe built it in 1587 with his partner John Cholmley. The plot was called the 'Little Rose', after the rose gardens that grew here.
