You're standing at the ruins of Lichtenberg Castle, high up on the Sint-Pietersberg just outside Maastricht. Look at that crumbling tower. It's what remains of the keep, the residential tower of a medieval hilltop castle. It still stands about twelve metres tall, with walls roughly a metre and a half thick.
