You're standing at Eijsden Castle, on the river Maas, close to where the little river Voer flows into it. Look at those walls. Red brick, alternating with bands of pale stone from Namur. Typical of the Renaissance along the Maas. The castle has two wings set at an angle, with a heavy tower on the outer corner and a narrow stair tower beside it. A moat runs all the way around, so this is a proper water castle.
