You're standing at Neercanne Castle, in the Jeker valley on the southern edge of Maastricht. The Belgian village of Kanne is right nearby. Look up at the castle. It sits on a man-made terrace against the slope of the Cannerberg. It's the only terraced castle in the Netherlands, and the garden steps down in terraces too.
