You're standing on the De Bosquetplein in Maastricht's Jekerkwartier, at the Natural History Museum. For more than a century, the museum has been housed in a former convent of the Grey Sisters. Have a look at the heart of the complex, the seventeenth-century Huis Stas. See the bands of pale stone running through the brick, and those elegant curved gables? That's the typical Renaissance style of the Meuse region. The plain chapel next to it dates from 1705.
