You're standing on Piazza della Minerva in Rome, just a short walk from the Pantheon. In the middle of the square is a marble elephant with an obelisk on its back. Locals also call it Pulcin della Minerva. Take a good look at its face. It looks more friendly than fierce, and that was a deliberate choice by its designer, Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
