You're standing in the Forum Boarium, the oldest forum in Rome. Today this square is called Piazza Bocca della Verità. Forum Boarium means cattle market, and that's exactly what it was: in ancient times, livestock was traded right here. It sits on a flat stretch of land by the Tiber, between the Capitoline, Palatine and Aventine hills.
