You're standing at the Basilica Aemilia, on the north-east side of the Roman Forum, along the Via Sacra. Not much is left: patches of floor, column stumps and a partly rebuilt brick wall with arches. But this was once one of the most beautiful buildings in Rome. On one side stands the Curia Julia, the senate house, and on the other the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina.
