You're standing at Fort Uitermeer, on the east bank of the river Vecht, just southeast of Weesp. Look at the round brick tower overlooking the water. That's a tower fort from 1845, the first of three in this area. It's about thirty metres across and had two floors, with an open courtyard in the middle.
