You're standing in Syntagma Square, the most important square in modern Athens. Look at the eastern side, which sits higher than the rest. Wide marble steps lead up to Amalias Avenue. Across the road you'll see a neoclassical building. That's the Old Royal Palace, which now houses the Greek Parliament.
