You're standing at the Fort aan de St. Aagtendijk, in a polder just outside Beverwijk, right next to the A9 motorway. It doesn't look like much at first, a grassy mound with a moat around it. But this fort is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, the ring of defences around the capital. It was finished in 1899.
