You're standing on the Seine in Bougival, at the site of one of the strangest machines of the seventeenth century: the Machine de Marly. Despite the name, it wasn't in Marly at all, but right here. Have a look at the street sign. The quay is called Quai Rennequin Sualem, after the man who built the thing.
