You're standing at the Palais Bourbon, home of France's National Assembly. Look at the front facing the Seine. A row of Corinthian columns under a triangular pediment, just like a Greek temple. Now turn around and look across the bridge. Beyond the Place de la Concorde you'll see the Madeleine church. The two façades face each other, and that's deliberate. Napoleon had this front added in the early nineteenth century, designed by architect Bernard Poyet, to mirror the Madeleine.
