You're standing on the Place de la Concorde, the largest square in Paris. On one side the Champs-Élysées begins, on the other lie the Tuileries Gardens, and to the south flows the Seine. The square was designed by the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel as an open octagon, with an equestrian statue of King Louis XV in the middle.
