You're standing at the Musée Cernuschi, on avenue Vélasquez, right by Parc Monceau. Take a good look at the building. It doesn't feel like a grand museum, and there's a reason: this used to be a private home. It belonged to Henri Cernuschi, a collector of Asian art, who lived from 1821 to 1896. He left his house and his collection to the city of Paris, and in 1898, two years after his death, it opened as a museum.
