You're standing at the Hameau de la Reine, the Queen's Hamlet, tucked deep in the park of Versailles, close to the Petit Trianon. Have a look around. Thatched roofs, half-timbered walls, a pond with a mill. It feels like an ancient farming village, but every bit of it was built on purpose between 1783 and 1786, for Marie Antoinette.
