Romeinse villa Kaalheide in Kerkrade

You're standing at the Roman villa of Kaalheide, on the Krichelberg in Kerkrade. Here, in a small patch of grass between the houses, you can see the foundations of a farm from Roman times. An estate like this is called a villa rustica. At least a hundred have been found in South Limburg, but this one sits right in the middle of a neighbourhood.
