Memorial Vredesvlam in Valkenburg aan de Geul

You're standing by the Peace Flame, right in the centre of Valkenburg, next to the church of Saints Nicholas and Barbara. The river Geul runs just a few dozen metres away. Look up at the sculpture. It's four metres tall and shaped like a giant V. In Dutch, that V stands for peace, for freedom and for Valkenburg: vrede, vrijheid, Valkenburg.
