You're standing at Kasteel Terborgh, also called Huis Schinnen, in the valley of the Geleenbeek stream near the hamlet of Heisterbrug. The castle is a seventeenth-century closed farmstead: four brick wings around a central courtyard. Look at the gables with their brick curls at the top. A moat fed by the Geleenbeek runs all the way round. You enter where the old drawbridge used to be, through the gatehouse. By the entrance stands a stone crucifix from 1758, with a Latin inscription asking the Lord to protect the people of Schinnen.
