You're standing at St Bartholomew-the-Great, in Smithfield. Start with the gateway on the street. On top sits a half-timbered Tudor front from the late sixteenth century, but the stone arch underneath is around three hundred years older. It's all that's left of the church's old west entrance. When you walk through it, the path follows roughly the line of an aisle that vanished long ago.
