You're standing at the Barcelona Pavilion, also known as the German Pavilion. It was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and it's an important building in the history of modern architecture. Look at the roof first. It seems to float. It rests on slender steel columns with a cross-shaped section, clad in chrome. The whole building sits on a base of travertine, and beside it lies a large, shallow pool that reflects it.
