You're standing at the foot of the Columbus Monument, right at the bottom of La Rambla, close to the harbour. Look up. On top of a forty-metre Corinthian column stands Columbus himself, cast in bronze and over seven metres tall. Add the pedestal and the whole thing reaches sixty metres. His right hand points out to sea, and in his left he holds a scroll. Under his feet you'll find the word Tierra, meaning land.
