You're on Carrer de Montcada, in Barcelona's old city, outside the Museu Picasso. From the street it doesn't look like a modern museum at all. What you see are medieval town palaces. The museum fills five of them, side by side, dating from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and built in Catalan Gothic style. Each one is built around a courtyard, with an outdoor staircase up to the main floor. Step into one of those courtyards and you can picture the noble and wealthy families who once lived here.
