You're standing in Amstenrade, in front of the castle. First notice the colour. The brick walls are painted ochre yellow, with pilasters of marlstone. The castle was built between 1781 and 1784, in a baroque style already leaning towards neoclassicism, designed by the Liège architect Barthélemy Digneffe.
