You're standing in the Jardin du Luxembourg, at the Medici Fountain. In front of you stretches a long, narrow pool, fifty metres of water lined with plane trees, stone vases and an iron railing. At the far end rises a stone façade fourteen metres high. That's the heart of the fountain.
