You're standing on the Place des Vosges, in the southeast corner of the square. The mansion right here is the Maison de Victor Hugo. The author of Les Misérables lived here for sixteen years, from 1832 to 1848. Look up at the façade and find the second floor. That's where Hugo rented an apartment of about 280 square metres.
