You're standing at the Animals in War Memorial, on Park Lane where it meets Upper Brook Street, right on the eastern edge of Hyde Park. This memorial isn't for soldiers. It's for the animals that served and died alongside British and Allied forces. Start with the big curved wall of pale Portland stone. It comes in two parts and represents the arena of war. Carved into it are animals, straining and struggling.
