You're standing in Hyde Park, one of London's Royal Parks. It covers some three hundred and fifty acres, and the water you can see is the Serpentine. It isn't natural. It was created around 1730 by damming a small river, in the days of Queen Caroline. A bridge separates it from the Long Water, which runs on into Kensington Gardens.
